About HTTA
Who are we? Houston Table Tennis Association, Inc (HTTA) was registered in 1998 as a 501 (c) (3) organization (not-for-profit) to run a prime table tennis facility originally donated by a Houston businessman – Fu Liem. Due to relocation of the Sponsor, the 21,000 square feet table tennis paradise was lost in 2002. Since then, HTTA has rented space and continued its mission under less fortunate circumstances. Today, HTTA is managed by seven-person non-paid Board of Directors (BOD) and its day-to-day activities are handled by volunteers. HTTA running expenses are covered from fees paid by approximately 50 core members (including the BOD) and ~500 occasional players (walk-ins) of all levels.
What do we do? We promote amateur and professional Table Tennis – locally, nationally, and internationally through high-level teaching and coaching programs provided by current members of our Club. During the sponsored years (1998 – 2002), HTTA provided more talent and hosted more competitions than any other National Table Tennis Club. The Southern Open, Special Olympics, Senior Olympics and most Texas Tournaments were regularly scheduled at our facilities. For example, the USA Table Tennis Team Trials for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games were sponsored by the Houston International Sports Committee and HTTA.Throughout the existence of our Association, we have contributed in the certification process of Texas Table Tennis Coaches, organized table tennis events for the Texas Special Olympics, Senior Olympics, Houston School Districts and Corporations. We help players of all ages and levels.
